A Matter of Trust gave me a ringside seat to the beauty of Glacier National Park and the extreme sport of backcountry snowboarding. I experienced all the accompanying cold and adrenaline rush, and it wasn't all on the slopes either. Ella and Gage have a history, one that went from head over heels in love to opposite sides of the court room. In my review of Rescue Me, I mentioned Susan May Warren was ramping up the tension and suspense. In A Matter of Trust, she ramps it up a few notches more. Tension and suspense are out in full force!

Gage has every reason to be angry with Ella, and want nothing to do with her. Despite falling hard for him, when Ella think's he's done something he said he wouldn't, she turned on him. Without talking to him. So NOT "a matter of trust"! Ella finally discovers the truth and realizes things are not as black and white as she had thought. So why doesn't she right the wrong?! Tension to the extreme!

I was amazed at Gage's willingness to forgive. He showed the most strength of character and integrity, the most spiritual growth as a man who suffered because of someone else, and by choice, overcame it. What's not to love when he offers up two of my favorite lines in the book, "It was time to set them both free", and later when he prayed for them, " Now, out of your great love, please rescue us. We trust you." There's just something about a forgiving, trusting, God-loving man that's irresistible!

The search for Ella's missing brother while Gage and Ella attempt to make it off the mountain before the incoming storm just adds another layer of tension and suspense to their already powerful story.

As ever, Susan has shown a spotlight on the spiritual truths of forgiveness and trust. I love Susan's writing, not only for the incredible journey she takes me on, but for the issues she has me contemplating long after the book is finished. I may run out of superlatives before this series is over, but this has to be the most exciting, the most entertaining, most perfect inspirational series written by my favorite Christian fiction author!

It goes without saying, Ian and Sierra's story in Troubled Waters will be my first book read in January of 2018. Their story has been one of my favorites, as Lisa and Conner's story was in the Montana Fire series. Then finally in book five, Jess and Pete are center stage! Susan May Warren knows how to give her readers something to look forward to! Special thanks to Revell for making a copy of A Matter of Trust available for review.

Matter of Trust Montana Rescue Susan May Susan May Warren 9780800727451 Books Reviews

Susan May Warren has done it again! 'A Matter of Trust' was another spectacular addition to the Montana Rescue Series. I've been super eager to read this book, it's been one of my most anticipated books of the year. Gage was a bit of a mystery to me in the first two books, so I was excited to learn more about him.

Gage, a former champion snowboarder, lost it all after the death of one of his fans. Now on the ski patrol and the PEAK Rescue team, he's still trying to put the pieces of his life back together. Ella, one of the country's youngest senators, is in Montana to track down her wayward brother. When their paths cross, Gage is shocked to see Ella again, the woman who had a hand in destroying his career. Can they put the past behind them and work together to find her brother?

Warren is a master wordsmith. I felt as though I was standing right there in the middle of this story beside these characters. I could feel the chill on the mountain, the biting wind, snow falling all around me (which is saying something because it was over 100 degrees outside while I was reading it.)

I loved Gage. He's super endearing... and not to mention majorly swoonworthy! Ella's got a lot of self doubt, but she's someone who really cares about helping those in need, making the world a better place. They're both living with major regrets. It was great watching them try to work through their struggles and emerge stronger for it.

I loved getting to catch up with all the characters from the previous books and meet new ones, too. Pete's one of my favorite characters, so I'm super happy that his and Jess' journey continued. Ty's got a bigger supporting role in this story, which I really loved. He was always in the background in the previous books, so it was nice to get to know him better.

This could probably be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend reading the series from the beginning in order to get the full enjoyment out of it. There's a lot of characters whose story arcs continue to grow with each new book and even though the author does a great job of recapping previous books, I think it's best to start with 'Wild Montana Skies'.

With each new book I read of Susan May Warren's, she further cements herself as one of my all time favorite authors. Each book in this series seems to get better and better. 'Wild Montana Skies' and 'Rescue Me' are some of my favorites that I've read this year and I can add 'A Matter of Trust' right there with them. I seriously can't wait for Ian and Sierra's story in 'Troubled Waters'. It's been a long time coming and I'm so anxious to read it!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my own honest opinion.
In all honesty, I wasn't really all that gung-ho about reading this book but it was a story I wanted to read nonetheless. Gage wasn't really a character that caught my attention in any of the previous novels in the series. He was sort of this fringe character, always just on the peripheral with his quiet demeanor and laid-back personality. What I really wanted was more of a glimpse of Sierra and Ian who started all this. Or the fledgling couple Jess and the newly 'Reformed Chick Chaser Pete'!

While there were brief moments that hinted at things to come between said couples, the story focused mainly on Ella and Gage who have a second chance at life and love after a terrible accident derailed Gage's career and Ella had to make a painful choice in hers; and also, PEAK Rescue pilot Ty Remington and Ella's best friend Brette. The drama between both pairs was never set at a low simmer with Gage and Ella working through their issues in a hair raising race to save her brother and Brette's near death emergency that Ty thankfully helped her through. Even though it wasn't the story I was looking forward to, it was still an exciting tale with lots of action and a little sweet romance mixed in. It didn't feel AS sweet as the previous books in the series, where I got sucked in and connected on a deeper level with the characters and their struggles but it was a great escapist read anyway.

The only problem with the story is; I wish I hadn't read it so fast because now I have to wait F.O.R.E.V.E.R for the next one to come out so I can find out what happens after that cliffhanger sneak peek in back. EEK!
